Safety

What we do, what you control, and what we will never ask of you.

Your location stays approximate

DuskMeet never asks your browser or phone for your position. You type a city, and the coordinates are rounded to roughly a kilometre before they are stored, so there is no exact location on file to leak, lose or hand over.

Other members see distance in whole kilometres, worked out from those rounded areas, never "3.2 km away" from your real position. You can hide distance completely in your privacy settings.

Photos are stripped before they are stored

Every photo is decoded and re-encoded when you upload it. That removes the camera and location data most phones embed in an image file, including GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken.

Reporting is private

Whoever you report is never told who reported them. Reports are kept even if the other person deletes the message or the account afterwards, so a report cannot be erased by the person it is about.

Blocking is immediate and mutual

Blocking somebody removes you from each other entirely: no discovery, no profile, no conversation, in either direction.

You control what is visible

Age, distance, when you were last active, your work and your gender can each be hidden without leaving discovery. Hiding your gender does not affect who you are matched with, that comes from what you and they are each looking for.

Meeting in person

Meet somewhere public the first time. Tell somebody where you are going and when you expect to be back. Arrange your own transport there and back. If somebody pressures you to move to another app, to send money, or to meet somewhere private before you are ready, that is worth reporting.

DuskMeet will never ask you for your password, and nobody from DuskMeet will ever contact you asking for payment.
