Privacy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the things we have deliberately chosen not to.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, a hash of your password, and your date of birth. The date of birth is used to check you are 18 or over and to compute the age shown on your profile. It is never displayed.
Your profile. Whatever you put in it: your name, photos, prompts, interests, languages and the details you choose to add. All of it is optional beyond the minimum needed for other people to make sense of you.
A rough location. Rounded to about a kilometre before it is stored. We do not use your device's location services.
Activity needed to run the service. Who you have liked or passed on, your matches, your messages, and when you were last active.
What we deliberately do not collect
Your exact position. There is no precise coordinate in the database to lose.
Your IP address in readable form. Addresses are stored only as keyed hashes, which let us recognise repeat abuse without holding a list of where people connect from.
Photo metadata. Camera details and GPS coordinates are removed when a photo is processed, before it is stored.
Tracking across other sites. No advertising pixels, no third party analytics on pages where you are signed in, and no fonts loaded from someone else's server.
Who can see what
Your email address is never shown to another member. Neither is your date of birth, your exact location, or anything you have marked hidden.
What another member sees is built from an explicit list of fields rather than by hiding a few from everything we hold, so a new detail is private until it is deliberately made public.
Help writing a first message
In a new conversation you can ask for three suggested openers. Only when you press that button, we send a language model provider (Groq, or OpenRouter if Groq is unavailable) the names of the interests you both listed and the wording of the profile questions the other person answered.
We do not send either of your names, their answers, your bios, your messages, your photos, your ages or where either of you is. We do not keep the suggestions, and one only reaches the other person if you put it in your message box and send it yourself.
Keeping and deleting
You can delete your account at any time. Your profile, photos and messages are removed. Records tied to safety, reports made about you, and moderation decisions, are kept, because letting somebody erase those by deleting an account would make reporting worthless.
Asking us about your data
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Write to privacy@duskmeet.com.
